New Milton Chess Club was established in 1975 to promote chess in New Milton through membership of the Bournemouth and District Chess League and the English Chess Federation. We cater for experienced players and beginners alike in a friendly atmosphere.

We are the only recognised chess club in the whole of the area covering New Milton, Lymington and Milford-on-Sea, and welcome enquiries from chess players throughout the district.

Please go to the other pages for more information on the Chess Club and on the rules of the Conservative Club which apply to visiting teams.

4 July 2020 – League, Club Competitions and Social Chess are currently suspended. The Conservative Club has reopened from 4 July 2020 but indoor sports and games are not currently permitted on its premises. We will give further updates in due course when the situation changes.

14 April 2020 – Look at the Dorset Chess website for information on online chess activities and other news, information and puzzles and games to occupy some of your time whilst we are in lockdown.

21 April 2020 – If you have a child aged 5-11 and would like to keep them entertained and occupied and learn a new skill during the lockdown then visit https://www.chessinschools.co.uk/chesskid-for-parent where you can register them for a free 3 month membership and they can learn to play chess or, if they already know the rules, play online against other children. This is a great initiative by Chess in Schools and Communities through ChessKid.com to get 1 Million children learning or playing online during the lockdown.
